De Novo has been formed by professional performers from various other groups. All of our members also have an extensive background in musical theatre which makes for a great point of difference.
Performing is what De Novo is all about. Our shows mix humour with well-known songs that are sure to get the crowd going.

MARK BENTLEY
Performer/ Company Director
Mark started entertaining professionally about 11 years ago, prior to which he featured in many musicals and plays in Rotorua. Mark considers himself an entertainer as opposed to a singer. “Its the whole experience that is important for audience enjoyment, not just a great voice”.
MELISSA NICHOLSON
Performer/ Company Director
With a love of singing and performing Melissa has sung professionally for the past five years and has starred in nearly twenty Musical theatre productions, including Jesus Christ Superstar, Rent and Evita. Melissa works as an English teacher in Tauranga and loves being able to bring a touch of singing, showbiz, style and, of course, sequins to audiences!
STEVE HOLMES
Performer/ Company Director
Steve Holmes is born and raised in Rotorua has always had a strong passion for the performing arts.
For the majority of Steve’s career he has worked with young people and now manages the Rotorua Community Youth Centre.
On stage he has performed in a variety of roles, more recently alongside Melissa Nicolson as Juan Peron in EVITA.
Kristen Pirie
Performer
Kristen’s passion to perform was ignited with ballet at a young age transitioning to singing in her teenage years. Kristen has performed in shows throughout the country and most recently appeared in Mamma Mia and Evita. A born and raised Southland girl, Kristen’s career in hotel management has lead her to Rotorua,
Susan Wenborn
Performer
Susan is a Rotorua local who has been performing for most of her adult life. She has been on stage many times in the past few years with the local musical theatre. Most recently Addams Family and Mamma Mia. She loves performing whether it is for a large group or in an intimate dinner setting. Her taste in music is eclectic, from Etta James to Ed Sheeran, Peggy Lee to David Bowie.
Sue Morrison
Performer
Sue comes from a family of professional actors and singer’s. Starting as a Dancer and progressing into singing and acting later on, Sue has appeared in some 60 odd productions from Christchurch to Wangarei. Amongst those productions she played Hannigan in “Annie”, Babe in “The Pajama Game” and more recently Donna in “Mama Mia” Sue has been in professional Corporate and Cabaret now for 15 years.
